Dr Tony Kwan is a nephrologist and general physician with an interest in transplantation medicine.

He is a part-time staff specialist at the Calvary Public Hospital, where he also holds numerous administrative positions as the Stream Director of Medical Specialties, Director of the Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU) and Co-Director of the Calvary Respiratory Assessment Unit (CRAU) during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

A Canberra local, Dr Kwan completed his undergraduate medical studies at the University of New South Wales before returning to Canberra to embark on specialist training in adult internal medicine at The Canberra Hospital. He subsequently completed his fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital before commencing a PhD at the University of Sydney, examining the role of innate immunity in the development of renal transplant rejection. He returned to Canberra in 2016 to take up an appointment at Calvary Public Hospital.

Dr Kwan has a keen interest in medical education, having been a local examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians since working at Calvary and involved with teaching junior medical staff at all levels. In recognition of this, he has been awarded Physician Educator of the year twice (in 2018 and 2019) by the ACT physician training network.

Dr Kwan admits patients to Calvary Public Hospital, Calvary Private Hospital and National Capital Private Hospital.
